Ruth was a business woman at heart. She graduated from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute and applied that knowledge throughout her life. She helped her husband George start his own sheet metal business, and once he got started she opened a gift shop selling glassware.

Ruth was a life member of the Order of the Easter Star and a member of the Hamburg Garden Club. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and would occasionally enter some for judging at the Erie County Fair. Her favorite flower was the rose. When she and George lived in Hamburg, she had him prepare a special area with the right sun exposure, drainage, etc., for her rose garden.

Ruth enjoyed playing the piano and had a baby grand piano in the house for many years. Her children can remember walking home from school and hearing her playing ‘tunes’ a block away.

Ruth enjoyed trailer traveling in retirement with George and they eventually settled in Palmetto, Fla. for a number of years before returning North to live in an assisted living facility.

Ruth loved family, and in later years especially enjoyed visits with the grandchildren.
