Coach Wood was an amazing man. I had the honor of knowing him as a coach and friend when I swam for Buffalo State college. We had so much fun with him. I could always count on him for encouragement and laughs. After college, I enjoyed seeing him on the pool deck at Section VI Championship meets as a coach myself. We’d enjoy talking about the “good old days” and I loved how much he always said what a great time he had with us at Buff. St.
I wish I could have been an the calling hours to personally express my condolences and love for him. Although I had not seen him in a while, his warmth, smile, laugh and good hugs will never be far from my thoughts. All my best to his family. Mrs. Meghan (Woods) Glieco

Bob Wood and I played golf together in the Tuesday Two Man League. There was no finer gentleman on the course. Always a smile, always a joke, always a job! I called him spandex for his swim suits. He was a joy to know. May God Bless Bob for all eternity!

Mr. Wood always pushed me to be my best in and out of the water! He was such an amazing teacher/coach in my life! I have taken the lessons I have learned from him and often find myself reflecting on them many years later. He has had such a significant impact on who I am today! My deepest condolences to Mr. Wood’s family and friends! Thank you for sharing your Dad (Grandpa) with so many people! He truly touched the lives of so many! May you find comfort in your memories. Mr. Wood will be greatly missed!

Mr Wood gave so much of himself to his students and athletes. One of the very best and an icon at Lake Shore high school. He was inspirational to me as a student and a diver. His sense of humor - the best. Condolences to the Wood family during this time. His life was so well spent giving of his wisdom and time to young people. We always had to listen to Paul Harvey in his class but he always listened to us. His sarcasm was legendary and the lessons he taught priceless. Fly with the Eagles Mr. Wood!
