Obituary for Reverend William B. Schmitt

SCHMITT, Reverend William B.

Of Orchard Park, NY, October 10, 2019. Loving son of the late Bernard and Natalie Schmitt; dearest brother of Wendy (Ron) Kasperek, Theresa (Don) Hershiser, Jerry (Liz) Schmitt, and the late Mary and Cathy Schmitt; cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews; also survived by brothers and sisters of the St. Columban Center. Rev. Schmitt will lie in state on Friday October 18th from 4-7PM at SS Peter and Paul RC Church, 66 East Main St., Hamburg, NY 14075. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at SS Peter and Paul RC Church at 10AM. A luncheon will be held after the Mass and burial will be private at the St. Columban Home On the Lake in Silver Creek, NY. Rev. Schmitt was ordained on December 21, 1968 and then went to serve in Korea in 1969. Rev. Schmitt left Korea in 1984 and began to study spanish before beginning to serve in Chile in 1986 until 2002. Besides Korea and Chile, Rev. Schmitt also served in New Mexico, Chicago, Columbus, Omaha, and most recently in Fontana, California at St. Mary's Catholic Church . Rev. Schmitt was currently residing and serving in Silver Creek at the St. Columban Home On the Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Columban Fathers, P.O.
