PARKER, Patricia A. “Pat”
(nee Whelan)

Of Hamburg, NY and Bonita Springs, FL , June 9, 2020. Beloved wife of the late James E. Parker; loving mother of twins Kathy (Tom) Hummel, Karen Lindsey, and Colleen (Dan) Gallagher; cherished grandmother of Katie Hummel, Jim Hummel, Kelly (Mark) Sagan, and the late Maggie Gallagher; adored Gigi of Claire and Kate Sagan; daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (nee Southard) Whelan; dearest sister of Mary (late Jack) Halldin, Thomas (Ruth) Whelan, Gerald (Ileanne) Whelan, Honorable Robert (Debra) Whelan, Peggy Page, Paul (Molly) Whelan, Kevin Whelan, and the late James and Jack Whelan; sister-in-law of the late Cy and Jane Barret and the late Jack and Pat Connors; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews; dear friend of Sr. Jeanne Thomas Danahy, RSM. Private services for immediate family. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Lackawanna, NY. Memorials in Patricia's name may be made to the Maggie Gallagher Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o CSF of Mansfield, PO Box 23, Mansfield, MA 02048.

Pat was 89 years young at her passing. She reunites in eternity with the love of her life – Jim, her granddaughter Maggie, and many others she loved in life. Pat grew up in South Buffalo, NY. Pat and Jim made their home and raised their three daughters in Hamburg. In retirement Jim and Pat were “Snow Birds” and loved their winter life in Bonita Springs, FL. Pat was blessed with three daughters who loved her immensely and provided a lifetime of joy and support. Grandchildren Katie, Jimmy, Kelly and Maggie were the joys of her life. She maintained a continuous and close relationship with them throughout their lives. Later in life, great-grandchildren Claire and Kate (who called her Gigi) brought her great joy.

Patsy had a zest for life and a good tune- especially her favorite “Crazy” (Patsy Cline) and so enjoyed a good time. She loved music! She played the piano and organ and had a lovely voice. Her large extended family and friends will all cherish memories of good times with her. All will have a picture in their minds of her many outfits and accessorizing from head to toe. She loved to dress up with matching bows, earrings, necklaces, rings, and shoes – or maybe as the Statue of Liberty on the Fourth of July! She enjoyed immensely getting together with lifelong friends and their husbands for “Steak Club” dinners. Sadly, all have predeceased her.

Pat was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Lake parish, a member of Catholic Daughters, and a Eucharistic Minister. She was an elementary school teacher at Immaculate Conception in Eden, NY and St. Mary of the Lake School in Hamburg, NY. She worked at Trocaire College where she was the Director of Residence and a Technology Lab Instructor for twenty-five-years.

She will be missed and will live in our hearts “Always.”

Dear Family of a Beautiful Woman,

I was so sad to get the news of Pat's passing. Pat Parker was my amazing assistant when I worked at Trocaire College in the early 80s. She was one of the bright spots in that universe. She worked magic with the students, always encouraged me, helped me navigate some truly difficult pathways, and made all the difference in my world. I have missed having her in my life for the last 30 years, but she made such a tremendous difference when I needed her most. Much love and care be with you. Memories of her smile, her laugh, her grace and her faith will be with me forever as I know they will be with you.
Love and Peace,
Wendy Paterson, Ph.D.

I find myself very sad over Pat’s passing. A lovely woman I barely knew, however , she had such a presence in our neighborhood! My kids and I share in your grief and will miss our friend and neighbor — the light of Aunt Lovey’s life.
